Fuzz Gun Bio
Fuzz Gun is a Catchy, Fuzzy, Rock & Roll band from Portland, OR. Formed in 2016, they get inspired by rock n roll music… that raw, electric melting pot of rock, blues, rhythm and blues, soul, country, and garage rock that first exploded out of the 50’s and 60’s and continues on to this day. The music that’s bold, catchy, sexy, and with a backbeat that’s infectious. The kinda stuff that gets you down and dirty, movin, shakin, singing along.
In 2017, Fuzz Gun released their debut self titled album Fuzz Gun. The songs are raw and raucous, but also playful and catchy, with fuzzy hooks and melodies. A key element to the band’s vibe are the two female singers, Lori Van Dreal and Ditte Kuijpers, providing that secret sauce to capturing those early American harmonies and do-wops.
In 2020, with another album’s worth of songs ready to go – and with a new collection of musicians including industry vets Mark Wanaka from the Crazy 8’s on lead guitar, Robert Trujillo from HAYMAKER on bass, and Brian Smith from Doris Dodge on drums, along with Lori and Ditte, they set out to record the band’s second album. After recording 4 of the 8 songs, Covid hit and stopped production altogether. After a lengthy break, and with Covid still raging, the band decided to finish the final 4 songs remotely. Through some trial and error, the musicians laid down their tracks individually sending them back to be mixed. The result was the full length album Silverstoned, released in October 2021. The title, a nod to the intoxicating sounds of the vintage Silvertone guitars and amps used in the recordings.
“The Guitar Riffs may be heavy, and the lead vocals gritty, but they manage to avoid an overcrowded wall of sound; the instruments give each other space and the handclaps. backup vocals, and clear production provide a nice contrast. Not unimportant, the starting point is good, because they know how to write catchy songs. They prove that eight times in a row on their new full-length album Silverstoned”
With Covid restrictions all but lifted, Fuzz Gun has begun to play live shows again. The 6 piece band puts on a fun, rockin’ live show that will get you movin, shakin, singing along. In the spring of 2023, Fuzz Gun is excited to be playing at the One Moto Show in PDX.
Fuzz Gun features Todd Eaton on vocals and guitar, Mark Wanaka on guitar, Robert Trujillo on bass, Brian Smith on drums, Lori Van Dreal and Ditte Kuijpers on backing vocals.
